Choosing your diamond

Never compromise on quality

Our diamond collection includes a wide variety of cuts and shapes for you to choose from. The one common theme among all of the diamonds we work with is that they are high quality in both colour and clarity. Whether you know everything there is to know about diamonds or are coming into this fresh, we will sit with you and make sure you can make an informed decision about what diamond fits you. Daniel, a GIA certified gemologist, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise, and can explain what you are looking at, from the four Cs to what a certificate tells you.

Every diamond of 0.50 carat and over comes with a certificate from an independent laboratory such as GIA or IGI.

What the grades mean

The four Cs

C

Colour

The colour scale starts from D, a colourless diamond, and continues alphabetically. Colour is the last place we compromise when working with diamonds: we feel they should be whiter than the paper we show them to you on.

C

Clarity

All natural gemstones have impurities inside them, trapped while the stone was forming. The clarity grade depends on the location, size, colour and type of these inclusions. Within the VS range or higher, they are generally not visible to the naked eye.

C

Cut

The cut is where a diamond gets its sparkle, which is why it is the second most important criterion in choosing the right diamond. The highest cut grade is Excellent, and it is what we recommend: the lower the cut quality, the less your diamond will shine.

C

Carat

Carat refers to the weight of a diamond, and it affects the price more than any other category. It is weight, not size: two diamonds of the same carat can look quite different depending on their shape and how well they are cut, which is why we never judge a stone on its carat alone.

Fancy coloured diamonds

Colour from deep underground

Diamonds come in colours: pink, yellow, champagne, blue, green, grey, black and, rarest of all, red. Natural coloured diamonds are a small fraction of what comes out of the ground, and we keep a collection of them in the studio.

They can be designed into any piece, as the centre stone or set among white diamonds. Come in and see what we have.

We work with natural diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds can be sourced on request.

Questions

Things people ask

Do your diamonds come with certificates?

Every diamond of 0.50 carat and over comes with a certificate from an independent laboratory such as GIA or IGI, and every piece leaves with a written description of its stones and metals.

Natural or lab-grown?

We work with natural diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds can be sourced on request.

What matters most when choosing a diamond?

Colour is the last place we compromise: we like diamonds whiter than the paper we show them on. Cut comes next, because it is where the sparkle comes from, and we recommend Excellent. In the VS clarity range or higher, inclusions are generally not visible to the naked eye.

Is a bigger carat always a bigger diamond?

No. Carat is weight, not size. Two diamonds of the same carat can look quite different depending on their shape and how well they are cut.

Do you have coloured diamonds?

Yes. We keep a collection of natural coloured diamonds in the studio, and they can be the centre stone or set among white diamonds.

Do you make pink diamond rings?

Yes. We make pink diamond rings, and we also have yellow, champagne, blue and other coloured diamonds, which we use in all kinds of jewellery.

Can I compare diamonds in person?

Yes. Our collection includes a wide variety of cuts and shapes, and we will sit with you so you can make an informed decision.
