The new one-off handcrafted multicolour tourmaline pendant fine jewellery design by Aharoni Jewellery.

Some of your might remember the multicolour tourmaline pendant which Nurit wears. This time we have applied a new concept of metalwork to a similar idea, combining white and rose gold, which flows together with the colours of the stone. Below is a picture of Eytan’s latest piece, a multicolour tourmaline set in 18 carat white and rose gold.

The pendant will appear in the 42nd edition of Capital Magazine in September 2009.

We recently told you all about how the V&A Museum in London showed interest in displaying an image of the Sydney Opera House Ring handmade by Eytan. In an amazing coincidence, in the same week that we recieved those E-mails from the V&A Museum we also recieved a handwritten letter from the son of the Danish architect Jorn Utzon, who designed the Sydney Opera House.

For more information about Eytan’s Sydney Opera House Ring, visit our collection.

In November 2008, when we heard the news that Mr. Utzon had passed away, we felt the need to send our condolences to his family. We wrote them the following letter:

5/12/08

Dear Mrs. Utzon and the Utzon Family,

We were deeply saddened to hear the news of Mr. Utzon’s passing away earlier this week.
In 2006 we made a ring which we decided to name “The Sydney Opera House” because we were so inspired by Mr. Utzon’s masterpiece creation.

We realise it takes an extraordinary personality to create such an extraordinary creation.

We immigrated to Australia 10 years ago and were moved by the story surrrounding the building of the Opera House. The thing that makes us extremely sad is that Mr. Utzon himself never got to physically witness the grandeur of his ingenuity. This is why we thought we should share this beautiful poem with you, the people he left behind:

GAZE FROM ABOVE
Translated from Hebrew to English by Bechor Aharoni

And even if things were not,
And reality and dream,
Did not touch,
If destiny thus desired,
Let us find comfort in a gaze from above.

Even parallel lines that have not met,
In a temporary world
Meet nevertheless, out there,
In the infinity.

This poem is from a book called “Poems in the Rain” published in 1989. It was originally written in Hebrew by my older brother Proffessor Herzl Aharoni from the Ber Sheva University in Israel.

May his memory live forever

Warm Regards,
Eytan and Nurit Aharoni

We were deeply moved to recieve yet again a handwritten reply from Jan Utzon, Jorn Utzon’s son, which read:

Thank you so much for your very kind letter at my fathers passing.
It was a sad, but natural end to a long and exciting life, and we feel priveleged to have been part of it.
Warm regards and much success with your beautiful work,

Jan Utzon.
